RO Water Treatment

Chemicals for RO plants

There are two main types of RO chemicals; ion exchange resins and membrane materials.
Ion exchange resins are used to remove ions such as sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, chloride, sulfate, nitrate, bicarbonate, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and fluoride. Membrane materials are used to separate molecules based on size.

Oblique chemicals for RO plants range from antiscalant liquid, anti-foulant to membrane cleaners and disinfectants that keep membrane surfaces at optimal performance including cost, convenience and environmental impact.

FEATURES OF BOILER CHEMICALS

  • Prepare feedwater before it goes to the boiler.
  • Protect and keep the internal boiler surfaces clean.
  • Maximize condensate return.

BOILER WATER TREAMENT CHEMICALS

  • Descalant
  • Neutralizer
  • Antiscalant
  • Oxygen Scavenger
  • pH Booster
  • Hardness Remover
  • Sludge Conditioner

To ensure clean heat transfer area in steam generating equipment and for optimum efficiency chemical treatment is essential. Oblique’s boiler feed water chemicals including multi-functional products, Antiscalant for various quality water, oxygen scavenger, sludge conditioners, pH & Alkalinity builder, condensate line treatment, fuel additives (liquid/solid).

Boiler Oxygen Scavengers are used to remove dissolved oxygen from the boiler feed water and boilers. Dissolved oxygen in the boiler is very corrosive at higher temperatures and pressures. This may lead to localized pitting and premature boiler tube failure or excessive feedwater leaks.

RO Antiscalant Chemical

Oblique’s RO antiscalant chemicals are specifically formulated as pre-treatment additives to be dosed in feed water to prevent deposition of inorganic scales in RO membranes. Feed water contains salts of calcium, barium, magnesium, strontium in form of carbonates, bicarbonates, sulphates and silicates, which on continuous flow, results in their deposition over membrane surfaces, resulting in decrease in RO membrane efficiency and permeate water quality.

These RO antiscalant chemicals keep RO capacity close to design, and minimizes shutdowns and membrane cleaning cost.

Why membrane scaling occurs?

Scaling takes place on RO membranes when the concentration of scale-forming substances exceed their saturation rate, and they produce added solids within the RO feed water. Deposited chemical substances include calcium carbonate, strontium sulphate, calcium sulphate, barium sulphate, and reactive silica.

These substances are found hard to be removed from the membranes owing to their low solubility nature. Scaling decreases the optimal functioning of the membrane, causing frequent cleaning and shutowns. These issues reduce the system productivity.

Oblique Antiscalant Chemicals are licensed under FSSAI (Category 99 – Substances added to food) On application, these antiscalants stabilize metal ions, preventing metal oxides precipitation and dispersing existing metal oxides/ hydroxides, silt and clay particles.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

RO Membrane Cleaning Chemicals

RO Membrane Cleaner with regular use minimize performance loss and extend membrane life which are constantly fouled by suspended solids, microorganisms, mineral scales that builds up during operation, causing loss in water output or salt rejection or both.

RO membrane cleaning chemicals are blended with features such as excellent system clean up, removing silicate scales, oil and organic matter. With low foaming, precise pH value, soil removal and biodegradable nature. These cleaners are suitable for water treatment plants, boilers, food processing units, dairies and reverse osmosis systems.

Most membrane cleaners usually remove harmful elements like metal oxides, carbonates and sulphate salts of barium, calcium and strontium. Modern ones offer a shorter mixing time that results in low foam development and cost-effective effects.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS

There are generally two kinds of membrane cleaning chemicals:

Low pH cleaner with a fast-acting formulation for cleaning of RO/ NF/ UF membranes by dissolving and dispersing organic and mineral deposits which primarily comprises of carbonates and sulphates of calcium, barium, strontium and magnesium

High pH cleaner which is an alkaline liquid product for cleaning of contaminants like oils, organic compounds, silica scales and biological slimes and films from RO/ NF/ UF membranes.
